A technical change has been made to the HUPFER operating theatre steps to comply with “DIN EN 14183 – Steps”. In addition Hupfer has responded to customers’ wishes for rubber-coated feet for improved non-slip properties.
With immediate effect, new anti-static and non-slip feet that has been successfully tested internally and in practical trials in a hospital. The feet are also available as spare parts and are compatible with all operating theatre steps (item number: 0191386510).
The following section provides an overview of the changes with respect to the previous model:
Fixed connection between frame and step surface
Until now, the step platform was placed loosely on the frame. Now the frame and step platform have a fixed, bolted connection to prevent the platform tipping or slipping.
Maximum load and type plate
The load bearing capacity of the operating theatre steps is to be tested as per the standard and limited to a maximum 150 kg. The HUPFER operating theatre steps have successfully completed this load test and now shows the maximum load of 150 kg on a type plate attached to the product. This load limit can also be found in the “Handling Instructions for Ladders and Steps” of the German Statutory Accident Insurance according to which trade associations inspect the safety of working equipment.
Non-slip properties comply with the standard
The standard defines the procedure for testing the non-slip properties of steps. This check has been conducted and our operating theatre steps comply with the requirements."
