Hupfer has significantly improved the working environment at its stud welding systems with an internally developed concept for a sound-absorbing housing with integrated extractor system.
Not only has it significantly reduced noise emissions, but other hazards such as flying weld spatter have now been eliminated or minimised. Last but not least, operability and ergonomics in the workplace have also been significantly optimised.
Leading the way to this success was Peter Burlage, training manager and soon-to-be occupational safety officer at Hupfer. He took the initiative for a comprehensive safety concept, which was then implemented in-house with the familiar “all-hands-on-deck” mentality shown by plant managers and designers, stud welding system operators, apprentices and an electrician. This special initiative from all those involved was deservedly rewarded by the employers’ liability insurance association for energy, textile, electrical and medical products (BG ETEM).
